late evening tea

It’s 11 o’clock at night. I’m sitting here with a cup of green tea. I’m typing these lines on the illuminated keyboard.

The light is dimmed. The window is open. Cool air streams in. Outside, you can see illuminated streets in the middle of deep black. Remnants of the Gründerzeit. Some of the windows glow a dark orange.
You can still hear the sounds of passing cars and a train running over the tracks.

I take a sip of the green tea. I love the bitter taste. It’s like drinking the essence of your past.

I wish I could continue writing and let the evening fade away. I still have an exam to prepare for. I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep well tonight.
I prepare my clothes so I don’t have to choose anything in the morning.

I take out my headphones and play my favorite song. Then I take a sip of caffeine and switch into productivity mode.
