The user group of the PineTime can be further divided into:
- Beginners: This group is suitable for the sealed version. They know the basics and can use the product to some extent but may encounter problems and require support. They need to research and acquire additional knowledge.
- Advanced Users: Both the sealed and unsealed versions are suitable for this group. They possess advanced programming skills and have a comprehensive knowledge base. With some familiarization, they can make significant progress.
- Experts: This group is proficient in using the Dev Kit, is an embedded device developer, and is part of the core development team actively contributing to the open-source project. They have years of programming experience, knowledge in electronics, and a deep understanding of the subject matter.
- Employees: Many employees come from the IT field or the open-source community. Not all employees need to be experts; some handle sales processing and distribution, establish contacts with manufacturers and suppliers, and others focus on marketing, product design, etc.
- Inspectors: To ensure that the device is safe on an electrical level and can be sold, it must be inspected by professionals for defects or risks to ensure that users or developers are not endangered. They create inspection reports and provide the device with safety certification.
- Product Testers: This group includes journalists who test the product to write articles and report on it. They focus primarily on the pros and cons and evaluate the product. Another example includes competing manufacturers who want to get an impression of the product.
